Tonight at 9:00, there will be a showing of Big Fish on Seeyle lawn...If you want to go with the group from the house, we're going to meet downstairs at around 8:30. Bring a blanket if you want something to sit on, and...enjoy!

(PS: You should all go. I'm going. Yay for free movies!)

Since I now have access to the Super!Secret first year forum on Blackboard, I posted under the section for Lawrence. My post is, of course, sad and lonely...make sure to post there, and check back there, as we can hopefully get the whole house dialogue going. Let your roommates/fellow first years in Lawrence/your dog/etc. know that the board IS being used, and that I look like a dork if I'm the only one writing...

Okay. That is all. Thank you.

Heya, I'm a first year in Lawrence--I was very excited to see this community linked to a smithies08, because I don't know all that much about Lawrence. Nor can I remember my room number, and I'm kinda curious about what type of room it is. If I find it, I will make inquiries. I know it's on the third floor. And it's a double.

Anyway, my name is Laura and I'm from Long Island. . . but don't hold it against me? I'm very excited to be getting off LI! But I'm getting nervous about school. Most of it is little, manageable stuff--figuring out classes and finding places and all that, but I'm also starting to get nervous about meeting people and if I'll find a place and all that. blech. I'm very shy.

But everyone here seems lovely :) And I feel really late and behind with everything--I'm totally out of it. I blame work. For example, I had no idea that we could get to our Smith e-mail addresses already? What's all this? It's very sad.

I guess I'll introduce myself a little more. I'm a big comic book/sci fi geek. The tv shows i'm most heavily into right now are Buffy and Angel, and Stargate SG-1. But I don't have the Sci Fi channel, so I haven't gotten to watch Atlantis.

By the way, if anyone has any buffy and angel dvds that they'll be willing to lend me at school, I would love you forever! I have seasons 1 and 2 of both, and I'm hoping to get buffy season 3 soon.

I read DC comics and independent-y stuff, but no Marvel. :) More details are on my interests list, I don't want to start listing them for people who will have no idea what it means.

What else? I have a twin sister, and no idea what I'm going to study, but probably something more humanities related than science related, although I do love physics. Pay no attention to my icon. . . that's not how I felt about my physics book at all. . .

I can't think of anything else to say, but it's almost midnight and I worked 7 hours. Although it's 11 hours from when I leave the house in the morning to when I get back, so you can blame any incoherence on that!

I started knitting my first scarf the few weeks ago, and I am over half way done, but my mother started it for me, and I have no idea how to finish it. When I make mistakes, I have no idea how to fix them and my mom ends up doing it for me. My mother, although I love her, is a terrible teacher. Is there anyone here that would be willing to give me a hand with knitting throughout the year? Pretty please?

It's kind of funny doing this from camp, but Sayer and I have computer lab as our rec assignment, and I get to play. Yay!

I just got an E-mail from Tegan, who'll be living on the third floor next year (WHOO!), and she asked me to pass this along...

"Since the beds that smith provides us are very skinny and a little too short for me, i will be bringing my own (much bigger) bed to smith this coming year. Now I
either have to get pys plant to remove it for 75 bucks, or else someone
in the house could take it for the year and save me a good chunk of
money to take something that im not going to use. I was wondering if you
would know of anyone in particular in the house that i could contact
who would be willing to take on an extra bed and get a free queen size
bed for the year. If anyone is interested, please let me know, as i will be happy to give them the bed at the beginning of the semester."

So, if anyone wants to have a guest bed for the year (or knows someone in the house who does) and doesn't want to have to actually buy a bed, you should E-mail Tegan at tfeehery@smith.edu and let her know.

(The kids are SO QUIET! Why didn't we use AIM to shut them up before??)

Hi! I'm a first-year, and I just saw a posting in smithies08 about this community, so now I have joined! Yay! My name is Stephanie, and I'm going to be in room 409, which sucks because I have to carry all my stuff up and down four floors but is awesome because it will be a *little* quieter up there, I hope. Uhh... I still watch Dawson's Creek and Buffy everyday, it doesn't matter that there are no longer new episodes. My favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls. I listen to all kinds of music, it doesn't really matter to me. I can't wait for school to start!

Eh, that's all for now.

Yay, I got my official housing assignment. I am in room 205B. Can anyone tell me anything about the room? Where did Sylvia Plath live? (I know, I know, not my room, I am just curious)

I'll introduce myself now. My name is Kelly and I am from Florida. I like to play music and read and do all sorts of nerdy things. I love the Beatles, Buddy Holly, ELO, and Elvis. I'm obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm learning how to knit. It has only been 3 days since I started, so I can only knit and purl. My roommate's name is Rouwenna and she is from Kentucky. I'm excited to have a roommate from such an exotic place. :)

Nice to meet you all!
